Sydney Dogs and Cats Home

Sydney Dogs & Cats Home, located in Strathfield South, is a longstanding charity-run pound and community facility providing care, rehoming, and reunification services for lost and abandoned pets. 

This location is the official pound for Georges River Council, Inner West Council, Randwick City Council, Waverley Council, and Woollahra Municipal Council, managing the care of lost and stray animals on their behalf.

Adoption

All adoptable dogs, cats, and rabbits are vet-checked, vaccinated, dewormed, desexed, and microchipped. Interested adopters can click “Enquire” on an animal’s online profile to submit an expression of interest, after which the team will be in touch to arrange a meet-and-greet.

Alternatively, you can take the dog to your nearest veterinary clinic, where staff can scan for a microchip and assist in locating the owner.

Donate

Sydney Dogs & Cats Home welcomes donations via their wish list—including items like microchips, comfy beds, toys, or kitten formula—and monetary gifts. Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible and can be arranged online or by calling the Home.

Volunteer

Anyone aged 18+ with a passion for animal welfare can apply to volunteer at the Home. Roles include assisting with animal care, reception, events, transport, fostering, and more—all available at their temporary locations in Strathfield and Austral.
