Camperdown Memorial Rest Park

Overview
Located in Sydney’s Inner West, Camperdown Memorial Rest Park in Newtown is one of the busiest off-leash spots in the district.
The park is unfenced and has a lively, community atmosphere, with wide grassy lawns that attract dog owners throughout the week. Its central location makes it a popular hub for locals.
The off-leash space is expansive, with plenty of room for running and socialising. Shady trees and benches provide comfort for owners, while the open layout makes it easy to supervise dogs. Afternoons and weekends can be particularly busy, giving the park a vibrant feel.
Dogs are permitted off-leash in the signed, designated area 24 hours on weekdays; on weekends the off‑leash hours are 5pm–9am during daylight saving and 4pm–9am outside daylight saving. At all other times, and outside the designated area, dogs must be on‑leash.
Because the area is unfenced and bordered by busy streets, strong recall is essential. The grass can become worn in high‑use spots and muddy after rain; bringing your own water is a good idea.
The park sits just off King Street, so cafés, pubs and shops are an easy stroll away.
Best suited to social, energetic dogs that enjoy lively, community settings.
Camperdown Memorial Rest Park is managed by the Inner West Council.
