Leichhardt Oval (Oval 2)

Located in Sydney’s Inner West, Leichhardt Oval in Lilyfield serves as an off-leash dog area when not in use for sporting events.

The sporting ground is unfenced and becomes a popular space for dog exercise outside of scheduled games, training or events.

The oval offers a wide, grassy area for running, with shaded spots and waterfront views nearby. Surrounding parkland, including the Bay Run, is strictly on-leash.

Since the area is unfenced and close to roads and paths, strong recall is important. The ground is maintained for sporting use and can get muddy after rain. Facilities such as water taps and bins are available but limited.

Bay Run walking and cycling paths are right next door, and local cafés and shops in Lilyfield and Leichhardt are an easy stroll away, making it a convenient outing for dogs and owners alike.

Leichhardt Oval is best suited to confident, energetic dogs that enjoy open running space and respond well to voice control in shared environments.
