Leichhardt Oval (Oval 3)

Overview
Located in Sydney’s Inner West, Leichhardt Oval in Lilyfield serves as a flexible off‑leash dog area when not in use for organised sport.
The sporting ground is unfenced and becomes a favoured spot for local dog owners outside scheduled games, training or events.
The oval is a large grassy field located adjacent to the Bay Run. Surrounding parkland, including the Bay Run itself, requires dogs to be on-leash, and dogs must stay at least 10 metres away from the children’s playground.
Since the area is unfenced and borders roads and public paths, strong recall is important. The field is maintained for sporting use and can become muddy after rain. Facilities like public toilets, lighting and parking are available at the sporting complex, but dog-specific amenities like water stations or poo bag dispensers are limited—owners should bring their own.
The Bay Run walking and cycling circuit runs right by the oval, and local cafés and shops in Lilyfield and Leichhardt are within walking distance—making it easy to combine dog exercise with a stroll or errands.
Leichhardt Oval is best suited to confident, energetic dogs that enjoy open grassy runs and respond well to voice control in shared, semi-busy environments.
Leichhardt Oval is managed by the Inner West Council.
