McIlwaine Park

Overview
Located in Sydney’s Inner West within the Canada Bay region, the McIlwaine Park Off‑Leash Area in Rhodes offers a designated unfenced space for dogs to exercise and play under owner supervision.
The off‑leash zone is a shared field within McIlwaine Park, open to dogs before 9 am and after 5 pm daily. It provides a large grassy expanse suitable for running and play, complemented by essentials such as a water station with bowl, dog waste bag dispensers, bench seating, and nearby street parking. However, the field itself lacks lighting and becomes quite dark after sunset, so owners should plan visits accordingly.
Because the area is unfenced, strong recall remains important for safety, particularly when other park users are present. The zone is ideal for energetic, well-trained dogs that thrive on open playtime and for owners who enjoy connecting with the local dog-walking community.
McIlwaine Park Off‑Leash Area is located on Concord Road at the northern end of McIlwaine Park, Rhodes. It’s adjacent to local walking trails, including the scenic Concord Foreshore Trail, offering seamless transitions from off‑lead fun to waterfront strolls.
This park is best suited to confident, social, and energetic dogs—especially those able to enjoy off‑lead freedom within time-restricted access.
McIlwaine Park Off‑Leash Area is managed by City of Canada Bay Council.
