Sydney Park Off Leash Area

Overview
Located in Sydney’s Inner West, Sydney Park in St Peters provides one of the largest and most popular off-leash areas in the city.
The park is unfenced and expansive, covering wide grassy fields, wetlands, and rolling hills across more than 40 hectares. With its scale and variety, it has a lively, community atmosphere and attracts dog owners from all over Sydney.
The off-leash zones are vast, offering dogs plenty of room to run, chase, and socialise. Shady trees, water stations, and seating areas are spread throughout, while walking and cycling paths create endless routes for longer outings. Parking is available on-site, making the park easily accessible.
Because the park is unfenced and busy, dogs with strong recall are best suited here. The grass is generally well maintained but can become muddy after rain, and the large crowds on weekends may be overwhelming for shy or reactive dogs. Bringing your own water bowl is recommended for convenience.
The park is surrounded by St Peters, Alexandria, and Newtown, with plenty of dog-friendly cafés and pubs nearby. Its wetlands and hilltop views make it not just a dog park, but one of Sydney’s most scenic outdoor destinations.
Sydney Park is best suited to energetic and social dogs that need large open spaces and enjoy mixing in a busy, community setting.
Sydney Park is managed by the City of Sydney Council.
