Natural Pet Food

Natural Pet Food Group is a New Zealand-based premium pet food company founded in 2006 and headquartered in Christchurch. The company was built around the mission of providing high-meat, minimally processed pet food made entirely from locally sourced New Zealand ingredients, including grass-fed and free-range meat, cage-free chicken, and sustainably sourced seafood. All products are grain-free, gluten-free and GMO-free, developed by an in-house nutritional team. Natural Pet Food Group previously received backing from New Zealand private equity firm Pioneer Capital before being acquired by global investment firm KKR in 2021, funded through KKR Asian Fund IV.

Australian dog owners will encounter the company through its K9 Natural brand, a premium freeze-dried and raw dog food range positioned at the top end of the market. The broader portfolio also includes Feline Natural (cat food) and Meat Mates (a complementary treat and topper range for dogs and cats). Products are sold through pet specialty retailers across Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, the US and Canada. Natural Pet Food Group is privately held under KKR ownership.
