ZIWI

ZIWI is a New Zealand pet food company founded in 2002 in Mount Maunganui by Peter and Kimberley Mitchell. The company pioneered air-dried raw pet nutrition, launching ZIWI Peak in 2004 as an alternative to conventional kibble, combining the nutrition of a raw diet with the convenience of ready-to-serve food. All ZIWI products are manufactured in New Zealand using ethically sourced New Zealand meat, organs, seafood, and green-lipped mussels. ZIWI is New Zealand's largest pet food exporter, representing over 50% of all New Zealand pet food exports across 35 international markets including Australia. In 2021, ZIWI was acquired by FountainVest Partners, a Hong Kong-based private equity firm. The company also acquired Freeze Dried Foods NZ in 2022.
