Overview
Greenhills Beach in Cronulla is one of Sydney's most popular dog-friendly beaches, offering seasonal off-leash access along a gorgeous stretch of golden sand on the Bate Bay coastline. The beach welcomes dogs during designated hours: 3pm to 10am during non-daylight saving months (April to September) and 4pm to 10am during daylight saving months (October to March). Located between Gates 1 and 5, the zone is easy to find and well-signposted for first-time visitors.
Cronulla's vibrant village atmosphere — with cafes, restaurants, and surf shops all within walking distance — makes Greenhills Beach more than just a dog outing. The ocean beach setting suits dogs who love splashing in the surf and owners keen to combine a coastal walk with their off-leash visit.
Greenhill Beach is ideal for water-loving dogs and owners who can work around the seasonal access hours. Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the designated zone.
Greenhills Beach is managed by Sutherland Shire Council.
