Newington Nature Reserve

Dog Friendly Walking Trail in Sydney Olympic Park

Overview

Newington Nature Reserve protects a remnant patch of Cumberland Plain Woodland within Sydney Olympic Park, one of the last significant stands of this critically endangered vegetation community in western Sydney. The on-leash trail winds through scribbly gum and grey box woodland with patches of wetland and grassland, and birdlife is exceptional — over 120 species have been recorded here. Dogs must remain on formed tracks to protect ground-nesting birds and sensitive understorey vegetation. The reserve is open daily from 6am to 5pm; gates close promptly.

Newington Nature Reserve is managed by Sydney Olympic Park Authority.
