Hill's Pet Nutrition
Overview
Hill's Pet Nutrition is an American pet food company headquartered in Topeka, Kansas, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Colgate-Palmolive (NYSE:CL). The company traces its origins to 1939, when veterinarian Dr Mark Morris Sr. developed a specialised diet to treat kidney disease in a guide dog named Buddy — a breakthrough that pioneered the field of veterinary clinical nutrition. Colgate-Palmolive acquired Hill's in 1976.
Australian dog owners will most commonly encounter Hill's through two product lines. Hill's Science Diet is a premium everyday nutrition range sold through veterinary clinics and pet specialty retailers, while Hill's Prescription Diet is a therapeutic range formulated for specific health conditions such as kidney care, weight management, and food sensitivities, available on veterinary recommendation. Hill's is consistently one of the most veterinarian-recommended pet food brands in Australia and globally, with products available in more than 80 countries.
Hill's Pet Nutrition is a subsidiary of Colgate-Palmolive, which is publicly listed on the NYSE under the ticker CL.
