Peanut Clusters

Peanut is a legume derived from the plant Arachis hypogaea, commonly cultivated for its edible seeds. In pet food, peanuts are primarily included as a source of plant-based protein, healthy fats, and essential vitamins. Peanuts are used in their natural, whole or ground form, rather than as extracts or isolates, to provide nutritional value and palatability in premium pet diets.

Peanut is included as a palatable protein and fat source to enhance flavour and nutritional value, appealing to both pets and consumers seeking recognisable ingredients. It also serves as a label-friendly addition that can support marketing claims of natural or wholesome content.

Vegetable oil is a plant-derived fat extracted from various seeds or fruits, such as sunflower, canola, or soybean. It serves primarily as an energy source and supports the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins in pet food. Vegetable oil is used in its refined, edible form rather than as raw plant material, ensuring safety, palatability, and optimal nutrient availability for pets.

Vegetable oil is included as a cost-effective source of dietary fat and energy, supporting palatability and contributing to the texture of the final product. It may also be used to deliver essential fatty acids and improve the appearance of the kibble.

Sugar is a simple carbohydrate derived primarily from plant sources such as sugar cane or sugar beet. It serves as a readily available energy source, supporting metabolic processes and palatability in pet foods. Sugar is incorporated in its natural, refined form rather than as a raw plant material, ensuring consistency and digestibility for pets while enhancing the taste of the final product.

Sugar is included as a cost-effective palatability enhancer to improve taste and encourage consumption. It may also serve as a minor preservative to help stabilise certain formulations.

Milk solids are the dried components of milk, derived from animal origin, typically cows. They consist of proteins, lactose, minerals, and milk fat, and are included in pet food to provide high-quality protein and essential nutrients. Milk solids are used in a processed, dehydrated form rather than as fresh milk, ensuring stability, digestibility, and consistent nutritional value in formulations.

Milk solids are included as a cost-effective source of protein and calcium, contributing to the nutritional profile of the product. They may also enhance palatability and improve texture, making the food more appealing to pets.

Yoghurt solids are a dairy-derived ingredient produced by removing moisture from yoghurt, resulting in a concentrated powder. Sourced from animal milk, they provide a rich source of protein, calcium, and beneficial probiotics, supporting digestive and immune health in pets. Yoghurt solids are used in their natural, dehydrated form, ensuring the retention of their nutritional and functional properties for optimal pet nutrition.

Yoghurt solids are included as a palatability enhancer and a source of dairy-derived protein and calcium, appealing to pet owners seeking perceived nutritional benefits. They may also serve as a label-friendly ingredient to support marketing claims of added probiotics or digestive support.

Emulsifier refers to a functional ingredient, typically derived from either plant or animal sources, that enables the stable blending of oil and water in pet food formulations. Its primary purpose is to improve texture and consistency, ensuring uniform distribution of nutrients. Emulsifiers are not used in their natural raw state; instead, they are incorporated as specific compounds, such as lecithin or mono- and diglycerides, for safety and efficacy.

Emulsifiers are included to stabilise mixtures of ingredients that would otherwise separate, ensuring consistent texture and appearance throughout the product. This functional additive helps optimise product quality and shelf stability.
