Advantix™ Small <4kg Flea and Tick Spot-On

Overview
Advantix™ for Dogs is a monthly spot-on treatment that kills fleas and ticks on contact — no biting required. This key difference means parasites are eliminated before they can feed, reducing skin irritation and the risk of disease transmission to your dog.
Advantix also repels ticks (including the deadly paralysis tick), mosquitoes, sandflies, stable flies and lice, making it one of the few dog treatments to offer both kill and repel action. Applied directly to the skin between the shoulder blades, it's easy to use and suitable for dogs from 7 weeks of age.
For paralysis tick control, apply every two weeks; for all other parasites, monthly application provides ongoing protection. Note that Advantix is safe for dogs only — it must not be used on cats or in households where cats may groom treated dogs within 48 hours of application.
Ingredients
Active: Imidacloprid, Permethrin. Inactive: Butylhydroxytoluene, Citric Acid, Miglyol 812, N-Methylpyrrolidone.

Imidacloprid is a neonicotinoid insecticide used in topical flea treatments for dogs. It acts on the nervous system of fleas by binding to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, causing paralysis and death within hours of contact.

Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide used in topical flea and tick treatments for dogs. It kills and repels a wide range of parasites on contact by disrupting their nerve function, though it is highly toxic to cats and must be used with caution in multi-pet households.

2,6-Di-Tert-Butyl-4-Methylphenol, BHT, E321, 2,6-Di-Tert-Butyl-P-Cresol
Butylhydroxytoluene (BHT) is a synthetic antioxidant derived from petroleum sources. It is primarily included in pet food to prevent the oxidation of fats and oils, thereby extending shelf life and maintaining nutritional quality. BHT is not used in its raw chemical state; instead, it is incorporated as a purified compound specifically formulated for food safety and effective preservation.
Butylhydroxytoluene is included as a synthetic antioxidant to extend shelf life by preventing the oxidation of fats and oils in pet food. Its use helps maintain product stability and freshness during storage and distribution.

2-Hydroxypropane-1,2,3-Tricarboxylic Acid, E330, 3-Carboxy-3-Hydroxypentanedioic Acid, Monohydrate Citric Acid
Citric acid is an organic compound derived primarily from citrus fruits, though it is commonly produced via fermentation for commercial use. Its main purpose in pet food is as a natural preservative and acidity regulator, helping to maintain freshness and inhibit spoilage. Citric acid is not used in its raw, crystalline form but is incorporated as a purified, food-grade compound to ensure safety and efficacy.
Citric acid is included as a preservative to enhance product stability and extend shelf life by inhibiting microbial growth. It may also be used to adjust acidity, optimising flavour and maintaining the quality of the final product.

Medium Chain Triglycerides, Miglyol 812, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, E472c
MCT oil is a plant-derived ingredient extracted primarily from coconut or palm kernel oil, consisting of medium-chain triglycerides. It is included in pet food for its easily digestible energy source, supporting metabolism and cognitive function. MCT oil is utilised in its refined liquid form, not as a whole food, to optimise absorption and ensure safety for pets.
MCT oil is included as a functional fat source to provide easily digestible energy and support metabolic health in pets. It may also be used to enhance palatability and differentiate the product in the premium segment for marketing purposes.

1-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone, NMP, 1-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidinone, EINECS 212-828-1
N-Methylpyrrolidone is a synthetic organic compound derived from chemical processes, not from animal or plant sources. It is primarily used as a solvent or processing aid in pet food manufacturing, facilitating the blending or extraction of certain ingredients. N-Methylpyrrolidone is not present in its natural state but is utilised in its refined, manufactured form to ensure safety and functional effectiveness.
N-Methylpyrrolidone is included as a solvent or processing aid to enhance the solubility and dispersion of certain ingredients during manufacturing. Its use can optimise production efficiency and ensure uniform distribution of additives or nutrients in the final product.
