Tractive

Tractive was founded during 2012 in Pasching, Austria by Michael Hurnaus, Michael Lettner, and Michael Tschernuth — three graduates of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria who shared a passion for both technology and animals. Their mission from day one was to use GPS technology to keep pets safer and strengthen the bond between pets and their owners. Tractive's first tracker launched in 2014 and was named Innovation of the Year by the Austrian Futurezone Awards. Over the following decade, the brand grew into the world's most trusted pet GPS tracking company, surpassing €100 million in annual recurring revenue in 2024 and operating in over 175 countries.

In August 2025, Tractive acquired US-based pet tech company Whistle, significantly expanding its health monitoring capabilities. In March 2026, Bending Spoons announced an agreement to acquire Tractive, with the deal expected to close by the end of 2026.
