The Fields at Easts Rugby

The Fields at Easts Rugby sits on the edge of Woollahra Golf Course in Bellevue Hill, with more gumtrees than cars visible from the deck. Chef Madita Kosch, formerly of Bills Darlinghurst, runs the kitchen — pub classics through a bistro lens, plus an on-site smokehouse turning out the slower cooks. Lawn games do the heavy lifting on the grass: giant Jenga, Connect Four, bocce, cornhole, ping pong. The ground-floor bar had a recent refurb, but the appeal is still the open-air spread and the golf-course quiet just minutes from Bondi and Double Bay. The kitchen fires Tuesday to Sunday.

With the lawn games out and space to move, dogs settle in easily beside their people on a Bellevue Hill afternoon.
