Overview
Located in Sydney’s Inner West, Blackmore Park in Leichhardt provides a generous off-leash space that doubles as a sporting ground.
The park is unfenced and has a relaxed, community atmosphere, with wide open fields that attract local dog owners for exercise and play outside of game times. Its size makes it a valuable option for residents wanting more space than smaller pocket parks.
The off-leash area consists of large grassy ovals bordered by shady trees, with plenty of room for dogs to run. Seating is available around the edges, and the flat layout makes it easy to supervise dogs across the field.
Dogs are permitted off-leash only outside of organised sporting activities. Because the ground is unfenced and bordered by surrounding roads, dogs with reliable recall are best suited here. The grass is maintained for sports use, which means it can become muddy in wet weather. Bringing your own water is recommended.
The park is close to Leichhardt cafés and shops, and connects easily to the nearby Hawthorne Canal corridor for longer walks.
Blackmore Park is best suited to energetic, social dogs that enjoy open fields and plenty of running space.
Blackmore Park is managed by the Inner West Council.
