Overview
Clifton Gardens Reserve sits on the harbour in Mosman, covering a stretch of foreshore that includes both Clifton Gardens and the adjacent Chowder Bay beach. Dogs can swim off the sandy beach east of the jetty and run on the grassed reserve areas — it's one of the more scenic dog-friendly spots on the Lower North Shore.
Off-leash hours vary. The grassed areas are off-leash all day on weekdays and before 9am and after 4pm on weekends and public holidays. Beach access is more restricted — before 9am and after 4pm on weekdays in winter, and before 9am and after 6pm during daylight saving. Dogs must be on-leash outside these hours.
The reserve has parking (pay and display), toilets, shade, and picnic facilities. Cafes near Balmoral are a short walk away. Best suited to dogs with reliable recall — it's a shared space with swimmers and families, particularly on weekends.
