Close Street Reserve

Close Street Reserve — also known as Leslie Muir Reserve — is a fully fenced, council approved off-leash dog park set alongside the Cooks River in Canterbury.

The secure grassy enclosure offers open space for dogs to run freely, with public seating, water access, waste bins, and nearby public amenities. The riverside location adds a scenic quality that sets it apart from standard suburban dog parks.

Located on Close Street in Canterbury, the reserve connects directly to the Cooks River foreshore walking and cycling tracks — making it easy to combine off-leash park time with a longer walk along the river. Street parking is available on Close Street, though it fills quickly during peak morning and weekend periods.

This park is well suited to dogs who enjoy a mix of open play and nature surroundings. Daytime visits are recommended as the enclosure is unlit.
