Overview
The Hunters Hill Club started life as the Hunters Hill Bowling Club in 1926 and ran its Women's Bowling Club alongside from 1957 to 1990, which was unusual for any Sydney club of the period. The shape has broadened since. Two tennis courts alongside the greens, a front sports bar with a dozen taps and TAB, and Lozzi Bistro running antipasti, pasta and pizza off a self-order system. Barefoot bowls social sessions run the last Sunday of the month in season, with live sport on the big screens year-round.
Dogs are welcome in the outdoor partly-covered area, with a downloadable club dog policy on the website covering the specifics. Hunters Hill itself reads as Australia's oldest surviving garden suburb — the heritage-protected peninsula sometimes called the French Village — which pitches the club as a genuinely village-scale local.
