Overview
Mestizo took over this Glebe corner late in the last decade. It rebranded through Local Lounge and Despaña Glebe before settling on the pan-Latin American identity it runs now — Colombian empanadas, Peruvian ceviche de chicharrón with corn, a rotating list of chef specials, South American wines and pisco-heavy cocktails to match. Live jazz and bossa nova play Friday and Saturday from eight, which tips the mix from quiet neighbourhood restaurant into low-key supper club for the second half of the night.
Dogs are welcome on the outdoor seating at the front and in the sheltered rear courtyard, the cooler of the two in warm weather. Sunday lunch is easy here. Empanadas on the table, jazz in the background, a leashed terrier tucked under the bench.
