Northies Cronulla Hotel

Northies has been the pub across the road from Elouera Beach since the 1880s, when it opened as the Oriental Hotel. Laundy Hotels took full ownership in early 2023, and the refurbished Old Joe's bar — designed by Sibella Court of The Society Inc — is the pub's most photographed room. Think sorbet paint, aqua subway tiles, striped awnings, reclaimed wood and a Hamptons-style milk-bar homage that reads as an extension of the beach across the street.

Dogs on leads are welcome in the outdoor seating, with umbrellas for shade. The main food service runs through Mango Jam, which turns out pizzas, burgers and pub classics — $17 chef's burger on Monday, half-price Napoli pizzas on Tuesday, steak specials on Thursday. A separate sports bar takes overflow on footy nights. The Martini Bar fills on weekends, and the late-night room keeps Cronulla's after-dark crowd moving through into the early hours.
