The Log Cabin

A fire levelled the original Log Cabin in 2010, and the pub that replaced it — opened by Laundy Hotels in 2022 after a $23 million rebuild — is far more than a recreation of the old timber room. Team2 Architects drew up two river-fronting outdoor decks over the Nepean, sandstone fireplaces, a sunken cocktail bar, and an upstairs fine-dining room called Sinclair's, where the menu runs to a 1.5kg tomahawk and whole roasted suckling pig for the table. Dogs on leads come through the side gate straight into the beer garden, which stays open to pups from sunrise to sunset.

Downstairs keeps the pub side running with rotisserie lamb and pork belly, wagyu burgers, gnocchi and wood-fired pizzas, while the Loggie Train playground runs alongside. Live bands take the stage every Friday and Saturday. Penrith locals walk across from the city centre or catch the train in to Emu Plains.
