Drontal Puppy/Small Allwormer Tablets

Overview
Drontal Allwormer Tablets for Dogs are oral tablets formulated to control the major intestinal worms that affect dogs — including roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms. The tablets contain praziquantel, pyrantel embonate and febantel, which work together to target multiple worm species at different life stages.
A single dose treats existing intestinal worm infections, with puppies able to begin treatment from two weeks of age. Ongoing dosing schedules vary depending on age, environment and reinfection risk.
Drontal Allwormer Tablets form part of a broader worm-control range designed for routine intestinal worm prevention when administered as directed.
Ingredients
Active: Febantel, Pyrantel Embonate, Praziquantel. Inactive: Croscarmellose Sodium, Lactose Monohydrate, Maize Starch, Magnesium Stearate, Meat Flavour, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Povidone K25, Silica Colloidal Anhydrous, Sodium Laurilsulfate.

Febantel is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic used to treat intestinal worm infections in dogs. It is converted in the body into active compounds that interfere with parasite energy production, effectively eliminating roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms.

Pyrantel is an anthelmintic commonly used to treat roundworm and hookworm infections in dogs. It causes spastic paralysis in susceptible worms by acting as a nicotinic receptor agonist, allowing them to be expelled through normal bowel movements.

Praziquantel is an antiparasitic drug widely used to treat tapeworm infections in dogs. It works by causing severe spasms and paralysis in tapeworms, allowing them to be digested and eliminated from the body.

Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium Cross-Linked, Crosslinked Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium, E468, Sodium Croscarmellose
Croscarmellose sodium is a plant-derived cellulose compound commonly used in pet food as a disintegrant to aid in the even distribution and absorption of nutrients. Its primary function is to improve the texture and consistency of kibble or treats. Rather than being used in its natural cellulose form, it is processed into a sodium salt to optimise functionality and safety in pet food formulations.
Croscarmellose sodium is included as a functional processing aid to improve the texture and consistency of pet food by acting as a disintegrant and stabiliser. Its use helps optimise product uniformity and shelf stability without significantly impacting nutritional value.

Milk Sugar Monohydrate, Saccharum Lactis Monohydricum, E966 Monohydrate, β-D-Galactopyranosyl-(1→4)-D-Glucose Monohydrate
Lactose monohydrate is a carbohydrate derived from milk, making it an animal-origin ingredient. It serves primarily as an energy source and can also function as a palatability enhancer in pet foods. Lactose is not used in its raw, natural state; instead, it is utilised as lactose monohydrate, a purified and stable compound, to ensure consistency and digestibility in formulated diets.
Lactose monohydrate is included as a cost-effective carbohydrate source and to enhance palatability in pet food formulations. It may also serve as a carrier for flavours or active compounds, optimising ingredient dispersion.

Corn Starch, Zea Mays Starch, E1401, Cornflour
Maize starch is a carbohydrate ingredient derived from the endosperm of maize (corn) kernels, making it a plant-based component. It serves primarily as a source of easily digestible energy and acts as a functional binder in pet food formulations. Maize starch is utilised in its processed, refined form rather than as whole maize, ensuring consistency, digestibility, and suitability for pet nutrition.
Maize starch is included as a cost-effective carbohydrate source that provides energy and helps bind kibble, optimising texture and processing efficiency. Its neutral flavour and label-friendly profile also support product stability and consumer acceptance.

Octadecanoic Acid Magnesium Salt, Magnesium Octadecanoate, E470b, Stearic Acid Magnesium Salt
Magnesium stearate is a compound derived from the mineral magnesium and stearic acid, a fatty acid typically sourced from plant or animal origins. It is primarily used as a flow agent in pet food manufacturing, ensuring even mixing and preventing clumping. Magnesium stearate is not used in its natural metallic form; instead, it is utilised as a safe, bioavailable compound to optimise processing.
Magnesium stearate is included as a flow agent to prevent ingredients from clumping and to optimise the manufacturing process by ensuring consistent mixing and tablet formation. Its use supports production efficiency and product uniformity rather than providing direct nutritional benefits.

Artificial Meat Flavour, Nature-Identical Meat Flavour, Meat Flavouring, Meat Flavour Substance
Meat flavour is a palatant derived from animal or plant sources, designed to enhance the taste and aroma of pet food. Its primary purpose is to improve palatability, encouraging consistent consumption and supporting overall nutrition. Rather than using whole meat, meat flavour is typically utilised in a processed or hydrolysed form to ensure safety, stability, and uniformity in pet food formulations.
Meat flavour is included to enhance palatability, encouraging dogs to consume the product. It also allows manufacturers to deliver a desirable taste profile without the higher cost of using real meat.

Cellulose Gel, Cellulose Microcrystalline, E460(i), Purified Cellulose
Microcrystalline cellulose is a refined plant-derived ingredient produced from purified wood pulp. It serves primarily as a dietary fibre source and a functional bulking agent in pet foods, supporting digestive health and stool quality. Rather than being used in its natural plant form, microcrystalline cellulose is utilised in a processed, purified state to ensure consistency, safety, and optimal functionality in formulations.
Microcrystalline cellulose is included as a cost-effective bulking agent and fibre source to optimise product texture and maintain kibble structure. It also aids in calorie control by increasing dietary fibre without adding digestible energy.

Polyvinylpyrrolidone, PVP, E1201, Polyvidone
Povidone is a synthetic polymer derived from the chemical polymerisation of vinylpyrrolidone. It is not of animal or plant origin but is manufactured for use in various industries, including pet food. Its primary function is as a binder, helping to hold kibble and treats together. Povidone is not used in its raw chemical form but as a purified, food-grade compound to ensure safety and efficacy.
Povidone is included as a binder and stabiliser to improve the texture and consistency of pet food products. It also helps maintain ingredient dispersion and product uniformity during processing and storage.

Colloidal Silicon Dioxide, Fumed Silica, Synthetic Amorphous Silica, E551
Silica Colloidal Anhydrous is a purified, amorphous form of silicon dioxide derived from mineral sources. It serves primarily as an anti-caking agent, helping to maintain the free-flowing nature of powdered pet food ingredients. Silica is not used in its natural, raw mineral state; instead, it is utilised in a processed, colloidal anhydrous form to ensure safety, stability, and optimal absorption.
Silica colloidal anhydrous is included as an anti-caking agent to improve the flow and handling of powdered ingredients during manufacturing. Its use helps maintain product consistency and prevents clumping, supporting efficient processing and packaging.

Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate, SDS, E487, Lauryl Sulphate Sodium Salt
Sodium laurilsulfate is a synthetic compound derived from plant-based fatty acids, commonly coconut or palm oil. It functions primarily as an emulsifier and surfactant, aiding in the even distribution of ingredients and improving texture in pet foods. Sodium laurilsulfate is not used in its natural raw form; instead, it is utilised as a purified salt to ensure safety and effective performance.
Sodium laurilsulfate is included as a processing aid and emulsifier to improve the texture and consistency of the product, ensuring even distribution of ingredients. It also functions as a surfactant, aiding in the mixing of fats and water-based components for manufacturing efficiency.
