Greenies

Greenies is a dental treat brand for dogs and cats created in 1996 by Joe and Judy Roetheli in Kansas City, Missouri. Joe, a former USDA agricultural economist, developed the original formula after his family dog Ivan's chronic bad breath didn't respond to anything on the market. Working with a board-certified nutritionist and a university dentist, he formulated a dry chew combining wheat, chlorophyll, and vegetable oil — moulded into the signature bone-and-toothbrush shape still used today.

Greenies was acquired by Mars Petcare in 2006 and is now manufactured at a dedicated facility in Kansas City. The treats carry the VOHC (Veterinary Oral Health Council) seal of acceptance for plaque and tartar control. The range has expanded to include pill pockets, joint care chews, and cat dental treats, and is widely stocked across Australian pet retailers and supermarkets.
