Horderns Beach

Overview
Horderns Beach in Bundeena is a dramatic and remote dog-friendly beach tucked inside Royal National Park, accessible via ferry from Cronulla or a scenic drive. Access rules are designed to balance wildlife protection with canine recreation: from May to August, dogs enjoy complete off-leash freedom across the full beach at all times. From September to April, off-leash access is restricted to weekdays before 8:30am and after 4:30pm — weekends and public holidays during this period are reserved for humans only.
The beach's setting in Bundeena village — with its waterfront cafe, local shops, and ferry wharf just steps away — makes a dog beach visit here feel like a genuine escape. The protected harbour location and shallow, calm waters are perfect for confident swimming dogs.
Horderns Beach suits adventurous owners who can work with seasonal and daily time constraints. Dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting the beach.
Horderns Beach is managed by Sutherland Shire Council.
