Sydney Dog Lovers Festival

Australia's biggest dog festival is exactly what it sounds like — a sprawling, two-day celebration of all things canine, held annually at Sydney Showground.

The lineup goes well beyond your standard pet expo. There's the DockDogs competition (think high-flying dock jumping into a pool), a Dances With Dogs stage, live training demos from science-based trainers, and a Breed Showcase where you can meet everything from Basset Hounds to Bernese Mountain Dogs up close. The Adoption Zone connects rescue groups with prospective owners, the Pat-A-Pooch area exists purely for emotional wellbeing (yours, not the dog's — they're already having a great time), and SASH vets are on hand for free Ask-A-Vet consultations.

On the shopping side, it doubles as one of Australia's largest dog retail events, with hundreds of exhibitors offering festival-only deals on food, accessories, tech and treats. Food trucks keep the humans fed. One important note: you can't bring your own dog.
