The Regent

The Regent — 'The Rege' to the regulars — is a Kingsford corner pub that pulls UNSW students, locals and a hard sports-and-racing crowd in roughly equal measure. The kitchen runs classic pub with an extra step: schnitzels, steaks, wood-fired pizzas, ribs nights and dollar winglets, plus weekend roasts. Trivia is Monday, karaoke from 10pm Thursday, and DJs fill out Friday and Saturday. Solotel runs it, which shows up in the infrastructure more than the atmosphere.

Dogs are welcome in the public bar and the courtyard, with water bowls on hand and Sunday specials that include free dog meals with any mains purchase. The pub runs an annual Dog Day raising money for Hounds in Homes rescue — an unusually well-organised dog policy for a neighbourhood local, and a proper indicator of where the Rege sees its crowd.
