Overview
The Sackville has been holding its Rozelle corner since 1876, originally as the Bellevue Hotel before taking the current name in 1900. A recent renovation rebuilt the street bar and sports bar while keeping the outdoor seating out front, which has stayed the default for most locals. The kitchen leans more ambitious than a standard neighbourhood pub: chargrilled baby octopus, twice-cooked pork belly, steaks smoked with hickory, a decent wine list backing it up. A drive-thru bottle shop carries the run-home trade.
Dogs are welcome in the front bar and on the outdoor seating, with market umbrellas for shade and portable heaters for cooler nights. Water and treats are on hand. The back bar is reserved for people only — a clear rule, clearly signed, which is more than most Inner West pubs manage.
