Woolpack Hotel Redfern

The Woolpack calls itself 'The Local's Local' and backs it up. It's a Redfern pub where dogs are actively encouraged inside and off-lead, which is vanishingly rare even in the Inner West. The room keeps a dog treat jar on the bar with proceeds going to rescue charities, so the pup economy effectively pays for itself. The taps lean toward craft beer; the menu runs the expected spread of schnitzels, burgers and steaks, reliably executed.

There is no courtyard to speak of. The relaxed open-door policy means dogs tend to sprawl across the front bar without much ceremony. Regulars bring their dogs through all year — it's the sort of place where the publican will know the dog's name before the owner's.
