Overview
Young Henrys set up in Newtown in March 2012 and has spent the 2010s and 2020s building out a craft brewing and spirits distillery inside an industrial warehouse on the Newtown side of the Inner West — Oscar McMahon and Richard Adamson's original outfit and one of the defining Sydney craft brands of the era. Flagship ales, a house gin and rotating seasonals cover the line-up. The fit-out reads working-factory: tanks in sightlines, concrete floors, bench tables, a pair of open roller doors when the weather agrees.
Dogs are welcome inside the taproom, with water bowls and the occasional biscuit from behind the bar. A 2025 development application for the site was rejected by Inner West Council and the brewery's long-term Newtown home is under strategic review. The taproom itself keeps running while the review plays out.
