Overview

EAC Animal Care gut & gland is a daily fibre and yeast powder for dogs, formulated to firm stools and support normal anal-gland emptying. It blends hydrolysed yeast, lignocellulose and cellulose fibres, marine algae, mineral clays and prebiotic FOS, and is mixed into food.

Firmer, well-formed stools apply natural pressure that helps the anal glands empty during bowel movements. It suits dogs prone to soft stools, scooting or sensitive digestion and is gentle for long-term use. It contains no harsh laxatives; persistent symptoms warrant veterinary assessment.

Ingredients

Hydrolysed Yeast, Lignocellulose (Insoluble Plant Fibre), Cellulose, Marine Algae, Mineral Clays and Natural Minerals, Prebiotic Fibre (FOS).

Fine, light beige hydrolysed yeast powder with a soft, even texture, commonly used in dog food supplements
Hydrolysed Yeast
Hydrolysed Yeast
Yeast Extract, Hydrolysed Yeast Extract, Autolysed Yeast, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Extract
Summary
Hydrolysed yeast is a processed ingredient derived from the breakdown of yeast cells, typically sourced from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a type of fungus. It is primarily included in pet food for its highly digestible protein content and as a source of bioactive peptides. Rather than being used in its whole, natural form, yeast is hydrolysed to enhance nutrient availability and palatability.
Why it's used?
Hydrolysed yeast is included as a palatability enhancer and digestible protein source, improving flavour and amino acid profile in pet food. It may also support label-friendly marketing by appealing to consumers seeking functional or natural-sounding ingredients.
Fine, light beige lignocellulose powder with a soft, fibrous texture, commonly used in dog food supplements
Lignocellulose
Lignocellulose
Plant Fibre, Dietary Fibre, Cellulosic Fibre, Plant Cell Wall Material
Summary
Lignocellulose is a complex structural component derived from plant cell walls, primarily composed of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. In dog food manufacturing, it is typically supplied as a processed plant fibre ingredient rather than in its raw form. Lignocellulose functions as an insoluble dietary fibre source, supporting healthy digestion and promoting normal stool formation in dogs. When included at appropriate levels, it is considered safe; excessive amounts may reduce nutrient digestibility or cause gastrointestinal upset.
Why it's used?
Lignocellulose is included in dog food formulations primarily as a low-cost source of dietary fibre to aid stool quality and bulk, offering processing advantages for manufacturers while providing limited direct nutritional benefit to dogs. Its use is mainly for cost efficiency and functional texture rather than for essential nutrients.
Light beige cellulose powder with a fine, soft texture, commonly used as a fibre ingredient in dog food
Cellulose
Cellulose
Beta-Glucan Homopolysaccharide, E460, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Plant Fibre
Summary
Cellulose is a plant-derived carbohydrate sourced primarily from the cell walls of fibrous plants. It serves as an insoluble dietary fibre in pet food, supporting healthy digestion and promoting optimal stool quality. Cellulose is not used in its raw plant form but is processed into a purified, food-grade powder to ensure consistency, safety, and effective fibre delivery in formulated diets.
Why it's used?
Cellulose is included as a cost-effective fibre source to promote digestive health and regulate stool quality in pet food formulations. It also serves as a bulk-adding agent, helping to control calorie density without significantly impacting palatability.
Fine greenish-brown marine algae powder with a soft, earthy texture, commonly used in dog health supplements
Marine Algae
Marine Algae
Seaweed, Macroalgae, Algae Extract, Algae Spp.
Summary
Marine algae is a plant-derived ingredient sourced from various seaweed species. It is primarily included in pet food for its rich content of essential minerals, trace elements, and natural antioxidants, supporting overall health and immune function. Marine algae is used in its natural, dried form, ensuring bioavailability of nutrients while maintaining safety and digestibility for pets.
Why it's used?
Marine algae is included as a sustainable source of omega-3 fatty acids and micronutrients, supporting nutritional claims and marketing appeal. It also serves as a label-friendly ingredient that aligns with consumer demand for natural and environmentally conscious pet food components.
Fine beige clay minerals powder with a soft, crumbly texture, commonly used as a natural dog supplement
Clay Minerals
Clay Minerals
Phyllosilicates, Aluminosilicate Minerals, Hydrous Aluminosilicates, Smectite Minerals
Summary
Clay minerals are naturally occurring inorganic compounds derived from weathered rocks and soils. In pet food, they are primarily included for their functional benefits, such as improving texture, aiding in moisture retention, and binding toxins. Clay minerals are not used in their raw, unprocessed state; instead, specific purified forms like bentonite or montmorillonite are utilised to ensure safety and optimal efficacy in pet nutrition.
Why it's used?
Clay minerals are included as anti-caking agents to improve product texture and prevent clumping during storage and handling. They may also serve as binding agents to enhance kibble integrity and stability.

Minerals
Minerals
Dietary Minerals, Inorganic Nutrients, Essential Minerals, Bulk Elements
Summary
Minerals are essential inorganic nutrients derived from the earth, not produced by animals or plants. They play a critical role in supporting various physiological functions, such as bone development, nerve transmission, and enzyme activity. In pet food, minerals are not used in their natural raw or metallic state; instead, they are incorporated as specific compounds (such as sulphates or chelates) to optimise safety and bioavailability.
Why it's used?
Minerals are included to meet essential nutritional requirements for pets, supporting overall health and proper bodily functions. They are often added in precise amounts to ensure the product complies with regulatory standards and nutrient profiles.
Fine white powder texture of fructooligosaccharides, a common ingredient in dog supplements and pet nutrition products
Fructooligosaccharides
Fructooligosaccharides
Oligofructose, FOS, Oligofructan, E968
Summary
Fructooligosaccharides are short-chain carbohydrates derived from plant sources such as chicory root. They serve primarily as prebiotics, supporting digestive health by promoting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria. Fructooligosaccharides are not used in their whole plant form but are extracted and purified for inclusion in pet food, ensuring optimal efficacy and digestibility for companion animals.
Why it's used?
Fructooligosaccharides are included as a prebiotic fibre to support digestive health by promoting beneficial gut bacteria. They also serve as a label-friendly functional ingredient that can enhance the perceived nutritional value of the product.
