PurePEA+ Omega

Fish oil is a nutrient-rich oil derived from the tissues of oily fish, making it an animal-based ingredient. It is primarily included in pet food for its high content of omega-3 fatty acids, which support skin, coat, and joint health. Fish oil is utilised in a purified, liquid form rather than as whole fish, ensuring optimal absorption and safety for pets.

Fish oil is included as a source of omega-3 fatty acids to support skin, coat, and joint health, enhancing the nutritional profile of the product. Its presence also serves as a marketing point, appealing to consumers seeking functional health benefits for their pets.

Ultra micronised palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) is a highly refined form of the fatty acid amide palmitoylethanolamide, processed to a very small particle size to enhance absorption. In dog food, it is supplied as ultra micronised PEA powder rather than in its raw form. PEA acts as a bioactive lipid that supports the regulation of inflammatory responses and may help maintain normal immune function in dogs. When included at appropriate levels, it is considered safe, but excessive intake has not been extensively studied and could pose unknown risks.

Ultra micronised palmitoylethanolamide is included in dog food formulations primarily for its potential functional benefits, such as supporting joint health or managing inflammation, which can add value to premium products and differentiate them in the Australian market. Its use is driven by both the perceived health benefits for dogs and the opportunity for manufacturers to market a specialised formulation.

Coconut oil is a plant-derived oil extracted from the flesh of mature coconuts. It is primarily included in pet food for its energy-dense medium-chain triglycerides, which support healthy skin, coat, and metabolism. Coconut oil is used in its natural, refined form, ensuring it is safe and readily digestible for pets while delivering its functional nutritional benefits.

Coconut oil is included as a source of medium-chain triglycerides, which are marketed for their potential health benefits and digestibility. It also serves as a label-friendly ingredient that appeals to consumers seeking natural or premium pet food formulations.

Lecithin Liquid is a mixture of phospholipids and other lipids commonly derived from soybeans, sunflower seeds, or eggs. In dog food manufacturing, it is typically supplied as a processed liquid extract rather than in its raw form. Lecithin Liquid functions as an emulsifier, helping to blend fats and water-based ingredients for improved texture and consistency in dog food. It also provides a source of phospholipids, which support cell membrane structure and fat metabolism. When used at appropriate levels, it is considered safe with no known adverse effects.

Lecithin liquid is included in dog food formulations primarily as an emulsifier to improve texture and processing efficiency, helping manufacturers achieve a consistent product while also aiding in fat dispersion, though it does not provide significant direct nutritional benefits to dogs.

Beeswax is a natural substance produced by honey bees and is classified as an animal-derived ingredient. In pet food, beeswax primarily serves as a coating or binding agent, helping to preserve freshness and improve texture. It is used in its natural form, not chemically altered, ensuring safety and digestibility for pets while providing functional benefits without contributing significant nutritional value.

Beeswax is included as a natural coating agent to help preserve the freshness and stability of kibble or treats by providing a moisture barrier. It may also enhance product appearance, contributing to label appeal for consumers seeking natural ingredients.

Gelatine is a protein derived from animal collagen, typically sourced from the skin, bones, and connective tissues of cattle or pigs. It serves as a gelling agent, providing structure and texture to pet foods while also contributing to protein content. Gelatine is not used in its raw animal form but is processed and purified to ensure safety, digestibility, and optimal functional performance.

Gelatine is included as a functional binding and gelling agent to improve the texture and cohesiveness of pet food products. It also serves as a cost-effective protein source that can enhance palatability.

Glycerine is a colourless, odourless liquid derived from plant or animal fats. In pet food, it serves primarily as a humectant, helping to retain moisture and improve texture. Glycerine is not used in its natural, raw state but is refined and purified for food-grade applications to ensure safety and optimal absorption. It also aids in palatability and shelf-life extension.

Glycerine is included as a humectant to retain moisture and improve the texture of pet food products, helping to prevent them from drying out. It also acts as a mild sweetener to enhance palatability for pets.

Water is a vital ingredient sourced from natural origins and is essential for all living organisms. In pet food, water serves primarily to hydrate, aid in ingredient processing, and ensure proper texture and palatability. It is used in its natural, purified form, not chemically altered, to optimise moisture content and support the overall health and wellbeing of pets.

Water is included as a processing aid to facilitate mixing and extrusion during manufacturing. It also helps achieve the desired texture and moisture content in the final product.

Iron oxide is an inorganic compound derived from iron, commonly sourced from mineral deposits. It serves as a supplemental source of iron, supporting the formation of healthy red blood cells and overall oxygen transport in pets. Iron oxide is not used in its natural, raw metallic state; instead, it is utilised in a processed, stable compound form to ensure safety and effective absorption.

Iron oxide is included as a colourant to enhance or standardise the visual appearance of pet food, making it more appealing to consumers. It serves no nutritional function for pets but supports marketing objectives by improving product presentation.

Vanillin is an organic compound that provides a characteristic vanilla flavour and aroma. In dog food manufacturing, it is typically supplied as synthetic vanillin rather than being extracted from vanilla beans. Vanillin is used as a flavouring agent to enhance palatability and acceptance of dog food. When included at low levels, it is generally recognised as safe; however, excessive intake may cause gastrointestinal upset or allergic reactions in sensitive animals.

Vanillin is included in dog food formulations primarily to enhance palatability, making the product more appealing to dogs, which can help ensure consistent consumption but does not provide nutritional value. Its use benefits manufacturers by improving product acceptance without significantly increasing production costs.
