Seresto™ Small Flea and Tick Collar

Overview
Seresto™ Collar for Dogs offers the longest-lasting flea and tick protection available in a collar, providing up to 8 months of continuous coverage against fleas and paralysis ticks — with no monthly treatments to remember.
Using an innovative polymer matrix, the collar slowly releases two active ingredients (imidacloprid and flumethrin) through your dog's skin and coat, killing fleas and ticks on contact without the need for a bite. It also controls brown dog ticks and bush ticks for 4 months, and reduces transmission of tick-borne diseases including ehrlichiosis, babesiosis and anaplasmosis.
Odourless, adjustable and water-resistant, Seresto is suitable for dogs and puppies from 7 weeks of age and is safe to use alongside other parasite treatments and medications.
Ingredients
Active: Flumethrin, Imidacloprid. Inactive: Dibutyladipate, Epoxidised Soybean Oil, Iron Oxide Black (E172), Polyvinyl Chloride, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylocaprate, Stearic Acid, Titanium Dioxide (E171).

Flumethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid used in tick and flea collars for dogs. It repels and kills parasites on contact by disrupting nerve signal transmission, providing long-lasting protection against ticks, fleas, and mites.

Imidacloprid is a neonicotinoid insecticide used in topical flea treatments for dogs. It acts on the nervous system of fleas by binding to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, causing paralysis and death within hours of contact.

Di-n-butyl Adipate, Dibutyl Ester Adipic Acid, Adipic Acid Dibutyl Ester, E472c
Dibutyladipate is a synthetic compound derived from adipic acid and butanol, categorised as an ester. It is primarily used as a plasticiser or carrier in pet food formulations, aiding in the even distribution of nutrients or additives. Dibutyladipate is not present in its natural form but is specifically manufactured for functional use, ensuring safety and efficacy in processed pet foods.
Dibutyladipate is included as a plasticiser to improve the flexibility and durability of packaging materials, helping to maintain product integrity during storage and transport. Its use supports extended shelf life by protecting the pet food from environmental factors.

Epoxidised Soyabean Oil, ESBO, E443, Glycine Max Oil Epoxide
Epoxidised soybean oil is a plant-derived ingredient produced by chemically modifying soybean oil through epoxidation. It is primarily used as a stabiliser and plasticiser in pet food packaging rather than as a direct nutritional additive. This ingredient is not used in its natural oil form; instead, it is utilised in its epoxidised state to enhance packaging safety and durability.
Epoxidised soybean oil is included as a cost-effective plasticiser and stabiliser, primarily to improve the texture and shelf stability of pet food products. Its use also helps maintain product consistency during processing and storage.

Ferric Oxide, E172, Fe2O3, CI 77491
Iron oxide is an inorganic compound derived from iron, commonly sourced from mineral deposits. It serves as a supplemental source of iron, supporting the formation of healthy red blood cells and overall oxygen transport in pets. Iron oxide is not used in its natural, raw metallic state; instead, it is utilised in a processed, stable compound form to ensure safety and effective absorption.
Iron oxide is included as a colourant to enhance or standardise the visual appearance of pet food, making it more appealing to consumers. It serves no nutritional function for pets but supports marketing objectives by improving product presentation.

PVC, E-PVC, Vinyl Chloride Polymer, E458
Polyvinyl chloride is a synthetic polymer derived from petrochemical sources. It is not a natural food ingredient and is primarily used in industrial applications, such as packaging or equipment, rather than for nutritional benefit. In pet food manufacturing, if present, it is not used in its raw polymer form but may be utilised as a component in processing materials, not as a dietary ingredient.
Polyvinyl chloride is included as a packaging material rather than a direct pet food ingredient, serving to provide a durable, moisture-resistant barrier that helps maintain product freshness and extend shelf life. Its use is driven by functional requirements for product stability and protection during storage and transport.

Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Propylene Glycol Caprylate/Caprate, PG Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, E477
Propylene Glycol Dicaprylocaprate is a synthetic compound derived from propylene glycol and caprylic/capric acids, which are typically sourced from plant oils. It functions primarily as an emulsifier and stabiliser, helping to maintain texture and consistency in pet foods. This ingredient is not used in its natural form but is specifically manufactured for safe use and optimal absorption in formulated diets.
Propylene Glycol Dicaprylocaprate is included as an emulsifier and stabiliser to improve texture and maintain the uniform distribution of fats and oils in pet food formulations. Its use helps optimise product consistency and shelf stability.

Octadecanoic Acid, E570, C18 Fatty Acid, N-Octadecanoic Acid
Stearic acid is a saturated fatty acid derived primarily from animal fats or plant oils. It serves as an energy source and supports healthy skin and coat in pets. In pet food, stearic acid is not used in its raw, natural state but is incorporated as a refined, food-grade compound to optimise digestibility and ensure safety for animal consumption.
Stearic acid is included as a functional ingredient to improve the texture and binding of kibble, ensuring product consistency during manufacturing. It may also serve as a stabiliser to enhance shelf life and maintain the integrity of fats within the formulation.

CI 77891, Pigment White 6, E171, Titanium(IV) Oxide
Titanium dioxide is a naturally occurring mineral derived from titanium-bearing ores. In pet food, it is primarily used as a whitening and brightening agent to enhance the visual appeal of products. Titanium dioxide is not used in its raw mineral state; instead, it is utilised as a refined, food-grade compound to ensure safety and effective dispersion within the formulation.
Titanium dioxide is included as a whitening and brightening agent to enhance the visual appeal of pet food products, making them more attractive to consumers. Its use is primarily for aesthetic purposes and does not contribute nutritional value.
