Centennial Parklands Off Leash Area

Overview
Located in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, Centennial Parklands is one of the city’s largest and most popular off-leash areas.
The parklands are unfenced but expansive, offering vast stretches of open grass, shaded groves and scenic ponds across hundreds of hectares. It has a lively, community feel and attracts dog owners from across Sydney thanks to its sheer size and variety.
Dogs are allowed off-leash in designated zones that cover large open fields, making it ideal for high-energy breeds and group play. Shady trees, walking tracks and multiple water stations add to its convenience, while wide open sightlines help owners keep track of their pets. Parking is available within the parklands, and the sheer scale of the space ensures there’s always room to spread out.
Because the area is unfenced, strong recall is important, especially near roads, cyclists and horse-riding trails that cross through the park. The grassed areas are generally well-maintained but can become muddy in wet weather. Owners should also be mindful of peak times, when the park can be very busy.
Centennial Parklands is surrounded by popular cafes in Paddington and Randwick, and is close to Moore Park’s entertainment precinct. With walking and cycling tracks weaving through the grounds, it’s easy to make a day out of a visit.
Centennial Parklands is best suited to energetic and social dogs that thrive on wide open spaces and enjoy mixing with others.
Centennial Parklands is managed by the City of Sydney Council.
