Overview
Located in Sydney’s Inner West, Elliot Park in Balmain provides a small foreshore reserve with a designated off-leash area.
The park is unfenced and has a relaxed, neighbourhood feel, offering locals a scenic spot to exercise their dogs while enjoying views over the water. Its modest size makes it more of a local convenience than a destination.
The off-leash section is grassy with shady trees and benches for owners. It links directly to the foreshore path, giving dogs more variety to explore and allowing owners to extend walks along the harbour.
Dogs are permitted off-leash in the signed, designated area at all times. They must remain on-leash in all other sections of the park and are prohibited from the children’s playground. As the reserve is unfenced and close to the harbour and surrounding streets, reliable recall is important. There are no dedicated dog facilities, so owners should bring water.
The park is close to Balmain’s cafés and shops, and its harbourside setting makes it an appealing everyday option for nearby residents.
Elliot Park is best suited to smaller or calmer dogs that enjoy quiet foreshore environments.
Elliot Park is managed by the Inner West Council.
