Overview
Located in Sydney’s Inner West, King George Park in Rozelle features sporting grounds that double as a timed off‑leash dog park.
The sporting areas are unfenced and become a popular space for local dogs outside of organised games or training.
When off‑leash access is allowed, dogs can enjoy the open grassy fields, but must remain on‑leash during sporting or training sessions. The surrounding parkland, including the Bay Run, is strictly on‑leash, and dogs are not permitted within the fitness station area or within 10 metres of the children’s playground.
Because the fields are unfenced and borders roads and pathways, reliable recall is important. The grounds are maintained for sport, so they can become worn or muddy after rain. Facilities like water stations are limited.
The park links directly to the popular Bay Run, offering great walking options, and Rozelle cafés and shops are just a short stroll away.
King George Park is best suited to confident, energetic dogs that enjoy open spaces when off-leash is permitted, and respond well to voice control in shared sporting and path environments.
King George Park is managed by the Inner West Council.
