Dog Friendly Beach in Mona Vale

Overview

A landmark moment for Northern Beaches dog owners. A 12-month off-leash trial launched in October 2025 has opened a 300-metre stretch at the southern end of Mona Vale Beach — the first ocean-facing off-leash dog beach in the area.

Dogs are permitted off-leash during timed hours: 5:30am–10am and 5pm–9pm during daylight saving, shifting to 6am–10am and 4pm–7pm in standard time. Access is via two pathways from South Mona Vale Headland Reserve (Robert Dunn Reserve), which is itself a 24-hour off-leash area with sweeping views. Dogs must be on-lead on the access paths and are prohibited on all other parts of Mona Vale Beach.

The trial runs until October 2026 — good behaviour from dogs and owners is the best case for making it permanent. Pay-and-display parking on Narrabeen Park Parade.
