Overview
Gallon has run in Pyrmont since 2009, set up by husband-and-wife team Julian and Jarina Leitl as a wine bar that punches well above its small-bar weight. The drawcard is 'The Stables' — a sandstone courtyard that was a horse stable in 1870, hitching post and all, now one of the quieter outdoor drinking spots in the area. The list runs regional Australian wines alongside international drops; the kitchen does modern European with a pizza base — calabrese, Peking duck pizza, halloumi with watermelon, house-made falafels, hot crumbed cheese.
Gallon is openly dog-friendly. On a warm Pyrmont evening, the Stables courtyard earns its reputation.
