The Toxteth (The Tocky)

The Toxteth — the Tocky to its regulars — has held the same Glebe corner since 1882. Public House Management Group now runs the pub, and the ground floor divides into a long public bar, a bistro built around the schnitty (the house schnitzel, famous enough locally to warrant its own nickname), a fire-lit front courtyard and an upstairs terrace that catches the last light. Trivia Tuesdays, karaoke Wednesdays and live music across the weekend keep the week on a clock; the kitchen runs pub classics with a rotation of Sunday roasts.

Leashed dogs are welcome anywhere on the ground floor, which makes the Tocky the easiest dog pub in the Glebe postcode. The front courtyard is the one most locals aim for, but the beer garden at the back runs quieter if the front's full.
