Overview
Located in Sydney’s Inner West, Glover Street Sporting Ground in Lilyfield doubles as a timed off-leash area for dogs.
The park is unfenced and primarily used for organised sport, but outside of these times it becomes a popular exercise space for local dog owners. Its large, flat oval provides plenty of room for energetic dogs to stretch out.
The off-leash area is grassy and open, with shaded trees and seating around the edges. Its size makes it well-suited for active dogs, and the clear sightlines allow owners to supervise play easily.
Dogs are permitted off-leash outside of organised sporting activities, and must remain on-leash whenever games or training sessions are in progress. Because the ground is unfenced and bordered by surrounding roads, reliable recall is essential. The grass is maintained for sports use, which means it can become muddy after rain. Owners should bring water, as dog-specific facilities are limited.
The sporting ground is located next to Leichhardt Oval and close to Leichhardt’s shops and cafés, making it convenient for combining a dog visit with local errands.
Glover Street Sporting Ground is best suited to energetic, social dogs that enjoy large open fields and community settings.
Glover Street Sporting Ground is managed by the Inner West Council.
